[ARTICLE] Liverpool Vs Spurs, A Season Decider?

Liverpool started off the season so well and everyone honestly believed Liverpool had a real chance at lifting the Premier League trophy. But due to an extremely poor January where the Reds only picked up one win against Plymouth Argyle and exiting all competitions us Liverpool fans are left scratching our heads as to where it all went wrong. Leading up to the Hull game I was certain we would be able to pick up the three points, we had all our attacking options back and I hoped Matip would be able to rediscover his form at the back earlier on in the season.

Sadly, none of this seemed to help.

Winning the Spurs game must be a priority for the Reds, if we lose, Tottenham could make a significant 7 point lead on us and if United win we could be 6th. The key element that could decide this game is our defence. Harry Kane has been on lethal form in the last month racking up a total of 14 goals in the league this season, and he is coming up against a very shaky back 5. Matip was such a revelation at the beginning of the season and since he has returned from injury he hasn't looked the same, so he needs to put in a good shift to show what we know he's capable of.Liverpool have clearly missed him while he was injured as with him they have conceded an average of 0.92 goals per game and without 1.8 goals per game. Another key battle on Saturday will be former Liverpool target Ben Davies up against Mané, Rose is predicted to miss the game due to injuries. Mané (apart from missing the pen) was in great form for Senegal and definitely wasn't the worst of a poor attacking display against Hull.

It’s not only the Liverpool players who have to get up for this game it’s the fans too. Our great club is known for our great atmosphere on those special European nights but this season when Liverpool have played poorly our crowd needs to put more effort in to lift them up like we know we can. This game could mean so much not just for this season but for the next few years. Winning Saturdays game would put us in a much better position to qualify for the Champions League and that is so important if we want to sign quality players to improve our first 11 this summer.

So, whether you're sitting at home, the pub or going to the match support the Reds and lets get those 3 points on Saturday!
