Paul is here with all of today’s LFC news (loads of outs) including Gomez to Brighton on loan, Ojo to Newcastle on loan, Suso to Spurs, Borini to A.C. Milan and Lucas to Trabzonspor.
It’s Daily News time once again and Paul is here with all of today’s Liverpool transfer rumours.
It has to be said that in the sense of ???incoming’ transfer rumours; the news today is pretty shabby. However, on the ???outgoings’ front, we could hardly ask for any more. There have been plenty of links for players leaving the club for us to discuss today.
We start with the future of young player Sheyi Ojo, and the story that Liverpool have reportedly rejected a loan bid from Rafa’s Newcastle for his services. Despite making 8 Premier League appearances for Liverpool in the 2015/16 season, last season amounted to a bit of a disappointment for Ojo. The 20-year old never featured for Jurgen Klopp’s first team in the entire campaign. It’s clear he has a bright spark and with the growing competition in the squad for a place, it would have been plausible for Klopp to have considered sending out on loan. However, whether he thought about it or not, the offer has been rejected and for now, it appears Ojo will be staying at Anfield this season.
Depending on who you listen to, the same could be said for centre-back Joe Gomez. It appears as though Brighton are in for a loan-move for the defender this summer, but a lot of the media is reporting that Klopp wants to assess how his pre-season goes before making any sort of decision. However, if the Daily Mirror are to be believed, the deal to send Gomez out on loan has been agreed, and he will be playing with the newly-promoted club next season. It’s all very up in the air at the moment but it’ll likely become clear over the next few days/weeks.
Moving onto our most senior player, there are more links connecting Lucas with a move away from Liverpool this summer. The Brazilian midfielder has this time been linked with a move to Trabzonspor, a Turkish who, to be honest, I’d never even heard of until this story broke. For the player it seems like an underwhelming move, but if we managed to get any kind of money, as a club it would be a good deal. It would be sad to see Lucas go, I think he would still do a job for Liverpool next season. But a 10 year career at Liverpool is not to be sniffed at, it’s a fantastic achievement for him.
Finally, in news only partly related to Liverpool, two of our former players could be on the move in this window to interesting destinations. Spanish midfielder Suso is reportedly being targeted by Tottenham, and former Reds striker Fabio Borini is being courted by AC Milan. It would certainly be interested to see Suso at another Premier League, as it has been suggested by fans that Liverpool let him go too early. I doubt it would go down too well with the general fan base if Suso were to join Spurs and reach the potential we thought he had in the first place. Borini on the other hand is quite a bizarre story. 10 years ago, players such as Kaka, Pirlo and Maldini faced Liverpool in the 2007 Champions League Final for AC Milan. And now, they’re being linked with moves for Fabio Borini. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
