Stay tuned for Chris’ Daily News round-up, which will be up soon!Just in case anybody wasn’t already confused enough regarding the future of RB Leipzig’s Naby Keita, reports in Germany publication Bild today have claimed that Liverpool have made a third bid for the unsettled Guinean in the region of £74m. This, contrary to the assertions of Melissa Reddy of Goal.com who has claimed the Reds have not made another approach for the midfielder since their £66m bid was rejected on July 17th. This news follows reports that RB Leipzig’s training camp was brought to a halt following an on-field bust up in which the Reds target allegedly “mauled” his opposite number Diego Demme following a series of “over-the-top challenges”. It appears that the pair have, however, kissed and made up, or the equivalent at least, with a tongue-in-cheek video that was released on Twitter last night featuring the squabbling midfielders. The video depicts the Guinean and his teammate making peace following their spat, with German international Demme claiming to be in “safe hands” following his injury before the camera moves to Keita who grins before saying “it’s all good”. So there we have it, he must be staying after all! This follows reports that equally unsettled Reds target Virgil van Dijk, who has this week been banished from Southampton’s French training camp as he looks to force a move away from the South coast outfit, has emerged as a target for Antonio Conte’s Chelsea. The Blues have already added Roma’s Antonio Rudiger for £29m to their ranks this summer but following the departures of Stamford Bridge legend John Terry and starlet Nathan Ake, it is expected that the champions will look to add another centre-back before the season commences next month. According to the Daily Mail, Italian boss Conte has set his sights on the Dutchman who has been linked to Liverpool all summer. The former Celtic defender has his heart set on a move to Merseyside but would perhaps consider a switch to the West London giants after negotiations to bring the £75m-rated man to Anfield stalled last month.Back on the Liverpool front, Emre Can makes his return to Reds training today amidst mixed reports regarding his future at Anfield alongside Danny Ings, who, much to the delight of all Kopites I’m sure, makes his return to full training following an injury stricken couple of years. They will be joined by new signing Andrew Robertson who will also train alongside his new teammates for the first time today. The £8m summer signing from Hull City is set to make his debut for the Reds against Hertha Berlin this weekend as James Milner continues to recover from the thigh injury he sustained in the Asia Trophy final versus Leicester City. Kop favourite Sadio Mane, who spent the backend of an impressive first season at Anfield on the sidelines following a knee injury sustained in the Merseyside derby is also expected to join the squad in the next couple of days as he continues his recuperation ahead of the upcoming season. One player who’s days seem to be numbered on Merseyside according to reports in the Daily Mirror today is Lazar Markovic, who has failed to convince Reds boss Jurgen Klopp that his future lies at Anfield. The Serbian is purportedly being courted by Watford and Hull City who would both be willing to part with £8m for the former Benfica attacker’s services. It is expected that Liverpool are open to selling the mercurial 23 year old who has spent much of his time at on the Reds’ books on loan elsewhere but are holding out for closer to £13m. One would imagine a deal that would see him depart the club he joined for £20m in 2014 will probably be struck somewhere in between these two figures with a move seemingly the best option for all parties. One player Jurgen Klopp seems reticent to losing this summer is diminutive midfielder Philippe Coutinho who remains firmly in the German boss’ plans for this upcoming season. The former Dortmund chief spoke in glowing terms regarding the Brazilian’s adaptability yesterday saying his star man should not be “fixed” to any one role in the side, such is his extraordinary talent, asserting “Phil can play in about five positions- in all different systems [but] you have to do the right thing at the moment”. One just hopes that’s not Jurgen attempting to put the talented 25 year old in the shop window! The Anfield favourite has been linked with a switch away from L4 this summer as the Barcelona attempt to convince unsettled star Neymar to reject the advances of French side PSG who have offered to part with an astounding £200m for his services. According to reports in Spain, the Reds have set a £89m asking price for the Brazilian international but it seems as though Jurgen Klopp is refusing to resign himself to losing his star man. According to the Daily Mirror, Nou Camp officials have headed to London today to “tie up a £90m deal” to take Coutinho to Catalonia, with the La Liga giants seeing him as the perfect long-term replacement for Andres Iniesta. The Reds remain convinced Coutinho will remain on Merseyside unless the Brazilian forces an exit. This said, Coutinho is seemingly settled at Liverpool and so it is unlikely the 5-time European champions will get their man unless the Brazilian’s position at Anfield becomes untenable. And finally, Reds chief Klopp has also refused to be drawn into a slagging match with his Manchester United opposite number Jose Mourinho saying “I’m not interested in what [Mourinho] says” in response to the Portuguese’s assertions that the Reds would struggle this season if they do not keep up with their rivals in the transfer market. Think we can all agree that it is refreshing to hear a manager refuse to engage with Mourinho’s infamous and equally puerile attempts at playing mind games which seem to start earlier every season. Seemingly the message from the German’s side is one of, “have a day off Jose, lad” which I’m sure is a view we could all get on board with!
