ON THIS DAY: In 197217th November 1972, Titi Camara was born in Conakry, Guinea. The ex-footballer started his career at Saint-Etienne making 94 appearances over a five-year period in which he scored 16 goals. For the next four years Camara had stints at Lens and Marseille; playing in the 1999 UEFA Cup final for the latter before securing his move to Liverpool that year.Under the management of Gérard Houllier, Titi Camara became a cult hero during his short stint on Merseyside. During the 1999/2000 season, Camara scored nine goals in 33 appearances with the most notable of these being the winner against Arsenal at Highbury and the goal against West Ham the day after his father died where he broke down into tears in front of the Anfield Road stand. At the end of that underwhelming season for the Liverpool squad, Camara was sold to West Ham for £1.5 million on 21st December 2000 just months before the team would complete a famous treble. The Guinean found it difficult in East London appearing only 14 times without finding the net. After retiring, Camara took charge of the Guinian national team for three short months before being replaced due to a run of poor results. He hasn’t forgotten his short time with Liverpool and is a hit among the reds fanbase on social media, taking every opportunity to poke fun at rivals Everton and even becoming the ???ITK’ of the Naby Keita transfer saga last summer.Article By @Loui_Connor
