As many of you fans will know, yesterday was the day of Liverpools members sale, and hundreds, if not thousands of fans went onto the website or picked up the phone expecting to get some tickets sorted for the coming season. However, this was not the case for many fans who were unable to connect to and operator via phone, or who could simply not purchase tickets online. This obviously caused anger and confusion as no-one seemed to know what was going on, and this frustration was taken to Twitter, a tweet to Tony Barrett questioned what was going on, and for some kind of explanation, however all that Barrett could say on the situation was that Liverpool were aware of it and that they had sorted the website out, as the website was down for a period. In a follow up tweet he also apologised to disappointed reds fans unable to purchase tickets. During the day the Redmen TV received an email from a disabled fan, who spoke about their problems with purchasing tickets. The first thing to know about purchasing tickets as disabled fans, is that it has to be done over the phone, and this was not a problem the previous season, as when you phoned up it would ring until you were put on hold, this could take any length of time before an operator would take your call, then you would be able to purchase your tickets. However this is not what occurred yesterday. When the fan phoned up yesterday there was no holding system, and so if you phoned and then managed get through, then you would have to be lucky enough for an operator to be free, as otherwise you would be cut off from the call. This sounds like an incredibly infuriating and ridiculous process, and people should be questioning why it has happened. And so you can only imagine the anger when the fan who emailed, rang up over 150 times over a 5 hour span, and only managed to get through without it being engaged 20-30 times. The end result of this was 4 tickets. From Liverpool this is absolute shambles and needs to be sorted. Firstly, the majority of people don’t have the time to spend a significant portion of the day trying to get through to an operator, and especially only to get 4 tickets. To think that this happened to all disabled fans, and others that had to wait in queues online, to then refresh their page and be put back to the end. Only with Liverpool this would happen. Questions have to be raised about why this happened, as a club of this size the website is going to always be busy and especially on a day such as that. Although fans may have had excessive waiting times and had an overall unpleasant experience, hopefully they are relatively happy with the tickets they could manage to get. Although things like this shouldn’t happen, people do make mistakes, however you would have hoped they’d communicated better on their social media platforms in order to alleviate fans anger and confusion, as leaving fans in the dark will only lead to more anger, as at this stage of pre-season everyone should be excited that the season is almost ready to start. What’s especially disappointing is that it took people tweeting in for Tony Barrett apologising on behalf of the club. With that said, I hope that everyone that is going to the Tranmere game tonight has a great time, and the same to be said for all games this season. Roll on the new season.
