Paul is here today and he has brought with him his daily Liverpool News update.
It would not be a daily news without an update to the Naby Keita saga, would it? RB Leipzig owner Dietrich Mateschitz has come out and said, “We don’t sell any of our players just to get money” (Bild). “lately we got a 75m (euros) offer for Naby Keita. No way! He has a contract and he will accomplish it” he said, “To sell him would not only be a proof of distrust to our fans but also the wrong sign for our players like Timo Werner who is in demand too.” This continues the narrative that has been going on all summer: Liverpool want to sign Keita, Leipzig do not want to sell. Expect this firm stance to continue as Leipzig try and get as much as they can for their star man.
In other transfer news, Lucas has officially completed his £5 million move to Lazio, having completed his medical in Rome yesterday. Lucas has been a loyal servant to the club over the last 10 years and I am sure I speak for most people when I say that we wish him all the best in his time there. He will be fondly remembered on Merseyside by most.
Sheyi Ojo has a decision to make. Liverpool have accepted loan bids from Fulham and Boro to take him for a season. I see Fulham as the best option for Ojo in my opinion, they showed last season that they have a commitment to young players and therefore Ojo would probably see more game time there if he is good enough. He will also likely be playing in front of Ryan Sessegnon, the left back that made waves last season for Fulham and was a target for ourselves and Tottenham until he signed his first professional contract with Fulham earlier in the summer.
Other outs include, Keven Stewart. The midfield player looks like he is on his way to Hull in a £8 million switch. He has left Hong Kong today to fly back to complete the move. Conveniently, this completely covers a large part of the fee for Andy Robertson who has been reported to be coming the other way for the past week now. This speaks to me as a swap deal, that has been split into two transfers in order for the agents to make more money. The other out that has been reported in the papers today is that Juventus are still considering the prospect of signing Emre Can.
And Finally, the Spirit of Shankly supporters group is holding an open meeting on rail seating on Saturday at 12:15pm at the Liner Hotel. This comes after the group held a closed meeting yesterday with the Hillsborough families and support groups to gauge their thoughts an opinion first before opening it out to the public. Liverpool are in a unique and complicated situation when it comes down to the rail seating issue and therefore must be careful and do the research before any decision is made. If you have an opinion on the subject and want it to be heard, do attend the open meeting on Saturday.
