Liverpool face one of the sternest tests of the season to date as Jurgen Klopp’s side head to north London to face an equally rejuvenated Tottenham outfit.
Whilst smart summer recruitment, a well-executed pre-season and a strong start have led to The Reds 2.0 looking ready to fight again, the appointment of the likeable Ange Postecoglou has worked wonders at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Albeit still early days, both sides will come into this clash full of confidence and looking to make a statement regarding their early trophy credentials.
Predicted XI
It was mixed news for Liverpool from Klopp’s Friday press conference as the boss discussed a slight setback for Stefan Bajcetic as well as the return of Trent Alexander-Arnold to the matchday squad.
Ibrahima Konate is also back in contention for a Premier League start after more midweek minutes and both Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo will fancy their chances of a start following Carabao Cup strikes.
The midfield provides slightly less in the way of selection headaches, albeit Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch will be desperate to prove they’re worthy of a leading role over the coming weeks.
XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Jones; Salah, Nunez, Diaz.
Redmen Reacts
Whilst this is certainly a difficult challenge for Klopp’s charges, it should be one they relish. With injury doubts over ket players for the hosts and the likelihood Spurs will fancy their own chances, this could well be a clash that plays into the hands of The Reds’ style.
Liverpool will be wary of the threat posed by their free-flowing hosts, however, with the firepower at Klopp’s disposal if it becomes a straight shootout then the visitors will fancy their chances.
A big opportunity to make a big statement awaits…
