It’s been a solid start to the season for Liverpool following perhaps a rather forgettable one last term. Europa League football was secured though, and there’s plenty to play for across all competitions. With the start the Reds have had, it’s a great opportunity to go on and lift some silverware.
The international break is always a good period of reflection, and there’s plenty to look on fondly. Mo Salah, Alexis Mac Allister and Darwin Nunez are looking like they’ve got their groove, and we all know of the quality throughout the team. But how far can the club go this season?
It’s an interesting question. The truth is, there’s no reason why, at this stage, all four trophies are a genuine possibility given where Klopp’s men find themselves a fifth of the way through the season. Of course, that would be a difficult ask, but as many would say who enjoy online casino games, you’ve got to be in it to win it.
So, what’s the jackpot for Liverpool? And just what are the odds on them hitting it?
The Premier League title
Naturally, wrestling the league title from Manchester City would be the biggest prize, especially after the heartbreak of a few seasons ago. Liverpool have fallen behind Arsenal with the oddsmakers, and are priced at around 5/1 to win the top flight.
It’s going to be one of the most competitive seasons in a long time though and if Klopp and co. can remain within striking distance of the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham this term, then those games against each other will be vital, and could tilt it in one’s favour.
Naturally, Manchester City are favourites, but they’ve stuttered of late, so they’ll need to find their feet once again when league action returns.
The Europa League
European success and Liverpool go hand-in-hand and the club are favourites to lift the Europa League title this term. It is a fantastic opportunity to add another European trophy to the already bursting trophy cabinet, and it has been the perfect start so far with two wins from two.
Bayer Leverkusen perhaps pose the biggest challenge at this early stage, with manager Xabi Alonso even tipped to become the next Liverpool boss, although the third placed finishers in the Champions League Group Stage will of course drop down too. Liverpool are certainly the team to beat though.
The FA Cup & League Cup
Domestic honours would be a good return for Klopp’s men. Both the FA Cup and League Cup were lifted in 2021/22, and they’ve progressed nicely so far in the latter of that this term, with a 3-1 win over Leicester to set up a tie with Bournemouth.
They’re now favourites to win that competition, while they’re third favourites to win the FA Cup, and get a nicely navigable draw and it could well be one of the best seasons the Reds have had in recent years. Amends for 2022/23 some would say.
