Liverpool will undoubtedly be in the market for midfield additions in the summer if not beforehand and a vast amount of names have already been linked with a switch to Anfield.
Mega-money move for Jude Bellingham aside, the Reds have also been touted with attempts to further supplement their engine room with smart, less expensive signings as Jurgen Klopp attempts to revamp a crucial department following claims of being ‘too loyal’ to those who have achieved so much with him at the helm.
One of those tipped with arriving on Merseyside has been Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes who only arrived in the Premier League last summer having been courted by numerous clubs including Liverpool themselves.
Dan spoke to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) for Redmen TV to assess the interest in Nunes…
Plettenberg said:
“I got a text message, I got the confirmation that Liverpool for sure, is an interesting club for the player. But I also hear that it’s not concrete with Liverpool at this stage. They have to have other candidates instead of Bellingham for the centre of midfield and I am convinced that Nunes is one of them.
“They will do everything for Jude Bellingham and if they pay him, I don’t expect they have the money for one more player in the range of £50, £60, £70million. Nunes is a potential candidate for sure but if you ask me now, I will say it’s not hot hot hot right now.”
Redmen Reacts
Albeit the Portuguese midfielder hasn’t set the world alight since arriving in England, Nunes is undoubtedly a superb midfield operator and one Liverpool have had their eye on for some time now.
Perhaps not at the prices mooted, but should Wolves face the drop this term, the Reds and others will be watching on with intent at the 24-year-old between now and the end of the season.
