We’ve lost a game of football and it all feels very strange. I’m not angry, just disappointed really. We obviously didn’t start well and that just played right into the hands of the opponents. I thought we were a little sloppy in the first half and too slow in our build up play. You can’t take you time on every occasion when the back line or back lines should I say, are so well drilled. They cut off the supply and pushed us out wide and just got bodies in the box. Tough to break down by anyones standards. So a combination of us being a bit shit and Atletico being stubborn, all topped off with dark arts, shithousery and a an atrocious ref. The tie isn’t over and I fancy us to knock them out. Credit where is it due though, they were resilient. A trait of many Diego Simione teams in the past. Remember, these ratings are just opinion. They in no way have any affect on your life. Don’t get angry. Just let me know yours in the comments below. Alisson – 7 Sound. Couldn’t do much about the goal and made a big save in the first half. I quite admire his composure when he did have the ball too, it can be so easy to rush things when you are behind and make the wrong choices. He didn’t. Trent – 6 He was a busy boy tonight and it showed later on as he looked shattered. Got plenty of the ball and was frustrated by being hounded out. His delivery was beyond frustrating tonight. Set play pieces didn’t come off. Gomez – 6 Kept Morata and co fairly quiet tonight. But in truth didn’t have that much to do. Composed under pressure as Atletico were pressing high up the pitch. van Dijk – 7 Not himself for me tonight. Maybe that was Atletico piling the pressure on. Gave away the corner that led to the goal and made a few other odd clearances which were very unlike him. Robbo – 7 Like Trent, Robbo was one of our major outlets and he also saw plenty of the ball. Some nice one-two plays with both Sadio and Divock caused issues going forward and he had plenty to do at the back. One interception proved extremely vital. Fabinho – 6 A little bit off the pace? Is that a fair assumption? Just the guy you want in terms of a physical battle but like many others, movements forward didn’t come off through lack of quality on our side or bag of it on the other.

Gini – 6 Saw someone lose their shit about Gini before. Just thought he was OK too. Great at retaining possession and neat, composed play but needed that something extra from him tonight. Hendo – 7 Cut a frustrated figure. A word that has been used many times tonight. Got forward and probed, tried to do different things and even came close to scoring. Just wasn’t to be tonight. Salah – 7.5 We saw the side of his game which we have seen a bit of lately; aggressive, decent hold up play and bringing others into the game. Could have had a goal had his first touch been a bit better! Bobby – 7 Must be so hard for Bobby being in the middle of it all. Chances we did manage to create came through him. Able to create an extra yard with his close control and flexibility. Mane – 6 Only played the first half. Didn’t feel like the right choice at the time but considering all the theatrics kicked in, probably a wise one. Didn’t do anything wrong.
Subs Origi – 6 Feel harsh every time I mark Origi. He’s not a winger. Was decent getting into the right spaces but took too much time which inevitably cut short his options.
