With two semi-successful pre-season matches under their belt, The Reds are looking forward to the next stretch of games in Singapore.
Liverpool beat Bundesliga 2 side, Karlsruher SC 4-2 with an incredible last-minute performance from Diogo Jota. The Portuguese forward scored two late goals to secure the first win of the pre-season.
A couple of days later, Jurgen Klopp – very much at home in the Black Forest in Germany – faced another Bundesliga.2 team; Greuther Furth. After only coming on after the first 45 minutes, Mohamed Salah provided three of Liverpool’s second-half goals with two assists and a goal.

Now, the next challenge awaits The Reds in Singapore with recently relegated Leicester City. The Championship outfit will provide a familiar test for Klopp’s side whilst also allowing the fringe players and a host of talented youngsters to continue to impress.
Following what for many was a shock relegation for the Foxes, there has been a pretty hefty amount of departures. Johnny Evans, Harvey Barnes, Youri Tielemans and James Maddison have all left the Midlands club and Leicester therefore look to be a perfect opponent to help Liverpool further advance their pre-season goals.
This clash also gives the Anfield faithful an ideal opportunity to watch one of the most exciting players to come through Kirkby for some time, Ben Doak. The fearless Scottish forward will be looking forward to getting more minutes to further impress the boss after two exhilarating cameo displays in Germany.

Another player Liverpool fans everywhere will have a keen eye on is Alexis Mac Allister. The Argentinian midfielder has already impressed during the first two matches of pre-season and looks to have developed an exciting understanding with Diogo Jota.
One small concern to come from Germany was the fitness of fellow new arrival Dominik Szoboszlai. The Hungarian rolled his ankle and picked up a minor knock in training. However, the Hungarian travelled with the squad to Singapore and is expected to play a part in at least one of the fixtures in the Far East.
There were though some notable absentees from the travelling party as Thiago and Stefan Bajcetic stayed on Merseyside to continue their rehabilitation from injuries.
Meanwhile, both Nat Phillips and Conor Bradley also stayed behind – perhaps looking to seal either permanent or temporary exits – and of course, Fabinho wasn’t part of the squad as he continues his exit towards Al-Ittihad.

Next up after Leicester will be a mouthwatering encounter with Bundesliga champions and another familiar foe in Thomas Tuchel as The Reds face Bayern Munich – albeit perhaps without Sadio Mane to catch up with.
Overall heading into the next part of pre-season, Liverpool look to be in a prime position to keep trucking on and grinding out the small details ahead of the new campaign. Both new additions have been in impressive form, the attackers look sharp and many of the academy prospects are staking their claim to be involved in the first team conversation for 2023/24.
All that’s left to do whilst the action continues is wrap up a signing or two, confirm a new permanent captain and his deputy and maybe – on the pitch – the defence can become more watertight…not much to ask really?!
