Liverpool will be without defender Nat Phillips for a few weeks after the defender suffered a fractured cheekbone during The Reds’ 2-1 win over AC Milan at the San Siro on Tuesday night.

Phillips started at centre-back as part of a Liverpool team that made eight changes from the XI which started against Wolves on Saturday and like many of his teammates, he put in an excellent display, the highlight of which was his Cruyff turn in his own penalty area!

However, it’s been revealed that he fractured his cheekbone during the game and whilst he won’t need surgery, he will be out until January.

The return of Joe Gomez in midweek softens the blow of losing Phillips and Liverpool still have four centre-backs fit and firing in the shape of Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, Ibou Konate and the aforementioned Gomez.

However, with games coming thick and fast, the chances of other players getting injured increases, so losing Phillips at this stage of the season is undoubtedly a blow for Jurgen Klopp as he will be keen to rest and rotate his players over the next few weeks.
