Liverpool have made a strong start to the 2023/24 campaign and despite a summer overhaul in the midfield department in particular, Jurgen Klopp’s side look poised to have a successful season once again.
Away from the midfield shakeup, the summer transfer window brought about extensive links with a move for a defender and recently, another candidate has come into the picture.
Lucas Beraldo of Sao Paulo was linked with a switch to Anfield last week. The 19-year-old ace has made waves in his early career in South America and despite his tender years, looks destined for a switch to Europe in the not-too-distant future.

Dan spoke to Sao Paulo and Liverpool fan Andre Salgado to find out more information about the young Brazilian.
“Some friends of mine compare him to Josko Gvardiol which I think is a very fair comparison.
“But Beraldo is slower than Gvardiol so I think maybe they are talking about his technical ability and agility.
“I would like to compare him to a Liverpool player and for me, he’s like Ibou Konate. Maybe slower but more agile with and without the ball.”

As well as the likeness to Gvardiol – who himself was hailed as ‘incredible’ – Beraldo has also earned comparisons to fellow Brazilian centre-back Eder Militao recently.
So far this season the teenager has made 45 appearances across all competitions, scoring once and earning an impressive 7.03 Sofascore rating in the Brasileiro Serie A.
Whilst things are certainly heading in the right direction at the moment, with Konate and Joe Gomez’s injury issues rearing their ugly head prior to the international break and Joel Matip now well into the final 12 months of his deal, it seems almost guaranteed Liverpool will head into the market for defensive reinforcements soon.
