Article by Lauren Black -@Lauren_Black9Liverpool overcame Crystal Palace tonight by 2 goals to nil at Selhurst Park, it was a hard fought battle but in the end we came away with the three points. Sadio Mane got the decisive goal after James Milner slotted a first half penalty but it was not easy and Palace definitley gave us a good game, here are the things we learned.Sadio Mane is going to be top scorer When majority of you where asked or thought about who would be top scorer, i can guarantee at least 90% of people picked Mo Salah, well I don’t think Mane is intending on being in second place again this year. With three goals under his belt and two games into the season he seems well up for it and I would not be surprised to see him picking up 30 goals this season. He get’s himself into those positions that can just cause defenders problems, he has pace, power and is comfortable in possession. There is the odd moment where I think he should pass the ball earlier and try and pick out a cross but then he goes on these mad runs and ends up in a position I didn’t think he could get into so really I just want him to keep doing what he is doing.Virgil Van Dijk is the best CB we have had in yearsA man mountain at the back. There is no other way to describe him, he’s up winning headers, out muscling players and pinging balls left right and centre. He has got everything. He was named Man of the Match after the game tonight and rightly so, he was the best performer on the pitch, didn’t put a foot wrong and looks to be an absolute bargain. We said this last year about him and with a big price tag hanging over his head there was always going to be pressure but to have a dominating centre half like him in our team is brilliant and I’m made up that we have him.Crystal Palace put up a fightIt wasn’t an easy win thats for sure. Crystal Palace seems to be one of those teams that I get really nervous about facing, especially away, and tonight was no different. I was never comfortable up until the second goal went in and that was in added time but i think a lot of fans feel that way now but credit to Palace as they did not make it easy for us.Players like Zaha, Townsend, Benteke and Schlupp in their attack have a lot of threat and you could see that throughout the game. Townsend very nearly scored, Zaha got in some good positions, as did Benteke, and Schlupp had a few shots on goal so they didn’t just roll over and let us play, they wanted to put up a fight but in the end we where just that little bit stronger.Article by Lauren Black -@Lauren_Black9
