The name Romeo Lavia has been tossed around at multiple points throughout the summer. The Belgian seems to be a great fit for The Reds, however, Southampton have reportedly declined not one, but now two of Liverpool’s offers thus far.
During this week’s episode of Transfer Insight, Dan has a chat with Merseyside Football Reporter for The Telegraph, Chris Bascombe, to talk about what may be going on behind the scenes.

Chris said: “You’d have to presume if Southampton are sticking to 50 million, that’s going to go on a bit longer or perhaps Liverpool’s going to have to draw the line.
“It’d seem a bit strange to take it as far as this and not pursue this any further. Maybe Southampton are just determined to stick to the 50 million.
“If [Southampton] have accepted he’s going, they’re probably going to try and get as much as they can for him.”
When asked about Lavia potentially taking the spot left by Fabinho, Chris responded: “I think there is a certain element of risk, going from one extreme to the other.
“It’s exciting long-term-wise in his development, but is he going to be ready to hit the ground running? I think that’d be a lot to expect.”

With the start of the season right around the corner, the Reds might pull out of the deal altogether for Lavia if they can’t reach an agreement soon. It seems as though Southampton are sticking to their guns and want an even 50 million for the player’s services without add-ons included. As with Fabinho’s departure, does the 19-year-old Belgian have the experience and quality to be put straight into the hole he left? Only time will tell.
