Starting XI: How should Liverpool line up against West Ham?
@AdamMNVi
It’s a matter of revenge this weekend as Liverpool look to maintain pressure on Manchester City, though the Anfield crowd will be massive in this one.
The Reds have to make it hostile. Our performance wasn’t good enough at the London Stadium last time around, and it has to be evident for David Moyes early on that simply parking the bus and counter-attacking isn’t going to work.
Some injuries this week mean there will be a few changes. Joel Matip is ill, Curtis Jones is doubtful, Neither Firmino nor Thiago are ready to return just yet.
Here’s how we should lineup:
Alisson starts in goal behind a back four that sees both fullbacks return after being rested vs Norwich. Ibrahima Konate stays in the side after the news that Matip will miss this one. Virgil completes the defence.
Fabinho will be important for this one to stop the counter-attack, and he should start from the six here. Jordan Henderson provides additional support next to an aggressive offensive option in Harvey Elliott, who can provide the necessary spark to help move Liverpool into dangerous areas.
Klopp has a decision to make upfront with multiple options in form. Fans wouldn’t be upset to see even the likes of Takumi Minamino start, but I think it’s got to be Diaz-Mane-Salah for this one. That lineup has been one of our most productive front threes this season in terms of creating regular chances, while Jota offers a good option from the bench should we need a goal.
This could be a real statement game if Liverpool start fast and put the Hammers to the sword. Three points will put enormous pressure on City who have the Manchester derby to play on Sunday, so the Reds must treat this one like a cup final.
Score prediction: Liverpool 4 – 0 West Ham.
