As more and more information is coming out about how close Liverpool is to signing Fluminense midfielder Andre, the greater the noise is surrounding the potential move.
Billed as a potential January arrival, Andre could be just what the Reds need for the second half of the season. With the Reds not having a long-term centre-defensive midfielder in the ranks, the Brazilian would be a fantastic option.
This week Dan met with former Fluminense youth coach, Eduardo Olivera, for an Expert Insight show to talk about the player and the potential of the deal coming to fruition.
‘He Can Play Anywhere In The World!’ | André’s Former Manager
Asked about the 22-year-old’s work ethic and playing style, Eduardo said: “If you give [Andre] a goal, he wants to [one-up] the goal. He can improve himself in different aspects of the game. André is a guy who leads by example.
“He has qualities of a leader, qualities to be a captain. He is a very good builder of the game, he can have a one-two touch game, and he’s a guy that turns with somebody on his back. He’s got different ways to build the game up, but also he’s a very good tackler.
“Even though he’s not the tallest, he can steal a very large amount of balls. He’s one of, if not the best that I’ve worked with.”

Redmen Reacts
Some high praise is coming from André’s former manager. Eduardo seems to only have good things to say about the player who was described elsewhere as ‘quick’ by South American football expert Tim Vickery from when he coached the youth team. André is said to be an extremely talented passer with the ball with also great ball-winning capabilities.
With these thoughts in mind, Liverpool still needs a long-term CDM. With the flair in combination with a high volume of rugged tackles, André could be the one to push our season over the finish line; if he does come in January.
