Liverpool are in mad pursuit for midfielders and the latest name to be heavily linked with a switch to Anfield is Borussia Monchengladbach starlet Manu Kone.
With a deal for Alexis Mac Allister seemingly edging ever closer, work appears to have already started on the next targets in what is set to be a chaotic window for the Merseyside giants.
SportBILD chief reporter Tobi Altschaffl initially suggested that the Reds had opened contact with the entourage of the 22-year-old Frenchman and we spoke to the man himself to get the finer details during our latest Transfer Insight Show…
Liverpool Open Manu Kone Transfer Talks | Liverpool Transfer News Update
Tobi said:
“Liverpool is very interested in Manu Kone. He’s not the rising star, he’s not like Jude Bellingham but he’s a very strong player. There were talks already between Liverpool and the side of Kone.
“It’s not the biggest transfer that will take weeks and weeks, it’s not €100m, it’s more like €30-40 so I think it could happen.”
Redmen Reacts
Albeit perhaps not the glittering profile of a Bellingham, Kone would be a highly astute addition to Jurgen Klopp’s squad in what is expected to be a big transfer window for the Reds.
Liverpool are traditionally not the biggest spenders in the Premier League, therefore a move for the likes of the Frenchman – who was described as ‘imposing’ in a scout report from Breaking The Lines – would make a lot of sense at the mooted price.
Furthermore, given the recent appointment of Jorg Schmadtke as Sporting Director, it should come as little surprise to see the Reds exploring the Bundesliga market further.
