Well that was quite the come down, wasn’t it?

Liverpool dropped more points at home as they drew 2-2 with Brighton, as the visitors came from 2-0 down to earn a point, and they could have even taken all three.

Jith Sreenivasan has rated the performances of each of The Reds players after the game.

Alisson – 9

He single-handedly earnt us that point right there making key saves throughout the game and kept it from turning into a cricket score.

Trent – 6

Wasn’t as potent going forward as you’d expect from Trent today. He seemed to have been pinned back on occasion and was not able to have the time in the key areas of the pitch to pull out some of the magic that he has in that right boot of his.

Van Dijk – 6

Probably the better of our CBs today using his nous and experience to provide some level of composure to a shabby back line. His pass in the build up for the first goal was peak Virgil though.

Konate – 5

Brighton was likely to be more of a test than Man United based on how they’re both coached and it showed in Konate’s performance. He looked lost on when to push up and be aggressive and when to be patient and force Brighton into a loose pass or sloppy touch. This is what the Premier League is going to be like Ibrahima, better get used to it.

Robertson – 5

Just not the performance we expect from Robbo. He seemed to be a step behind and he was unable to react to the moves that the Brighton attackers were making which caused real problems for us going back.

Henderson – 6

Looked lost in an ocean of Brighton midfielders, he tried to control the proceedings as best as he could but was unable to stem the flow in the game on his own. +1 rating for a gorgeous goal.

Jones – 5

This was a game where Jones being a 20 year old was very noticeable. Slow on the ball when being pressured and lacking real composure in the key moments when we needed a calm head in on the pitch.

Keita – N/A

Oh Naby. Looks like the Pogba tackle has taken more of a toll than what we thought. On the cameo itself, our best play came when he was on the pitch so there’s that plus to take at least. Hopefully he’s back soon.

Mane – 6.5

He had endeavour and passion but ultimately lacked the real quality he needed to break open that Brighton back line consistently in the second half. Does score an excellent goal though which is always a positive and was unfortunate to not get a second.

Salah – 6

Tidy and bright for chunks of the first half and was out of the game and completely faded in the second. He can’t save us every week and this was just one too many. Still Mo, please sign that contract. Thanks!

Firmino – 4

Off the ball he looked as Bobby as ever in the first half and showed the intelligence and awareness needed for us to break the press. On the ball, he couldn’t hit a pass of any meaningful quality and that was exceptionally disappointing. He’s been in good form, however, so he can hopefully forget about this one and move on as I most certainly will.

Oxlade-Chamberlain – 6.5

Lovely assist to set up Mane’s goal and showed like he was fighting for his Liverpool career in that first half. Looked lost and faded into the pack in that second when Brighton upped their tempo and class.

Jota – N/A

Provided no meaningful impact to the game.
