As part of our Journo Insight Extra show one of our Club Legend subscribers; Castiet, sent in a question for Neil and asked if he’d heard anything on the reports suggesting that Liverpool were interested in Red Bull Salzburg star Karim Adeyemi.
Neil said:
“We know Liverpool like the Red Bull approach and the Red Bull school. He looks like a very interesting player, I think he’ll move to a top club but I think that it’ll probably be RB Leipzig, I think he’s going to go down that path. He’ll certainly be one on Liverpool’s radar, they’ve got a good relationship with the Red Bull organisation, but I think he’ll be one who makes the move [to Leipzig] then a move [on from there].”
Redmen Reacts
As we’ve seen with the signings of Naby Keita, Ibrahima Konate and Taki Minamino, Liverpool do like to take players from the Red Bull set-up, so it’s little surprise to see that Adeyemi is being linked with a move to Anfield at some point in the summer.
As Neil says, if there’s a young player in that set-up who is doing well enough to be called up to the German national team, then there’s a very, very good chance that he’ll already be on Liverpool’s radar.
However, as Neil also said, the logical move would seem to be a switch from Salzburg to Leipzig. That would allow Adeyemi to test himself in a better standard of league than the one he’s currently playing in and if he succeeds, he’ll be sold on for a bigger fee, which will suit the RB set-up down to the ground,
We agree that Adeyemi will probably end up at Leipzig next, but from there, it would not be a surprise at all if Liverpool do decide to make a move for him.
