Neil Jones of Goal.com has confirmed to us that Liverpool have been keeping tabs on Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus as the Reds look to bring in a midfielder to replace Gini Wijnaldum. Wijnaldum was given a huge send off at Anfield after Liverpool defeated Crystal Palace to secure their place in the Champions League and it looks like he will soon be joining Barcelona on a free transfer. Speaking to our very own Paul Machin on the Redmen TV, Jones confirmed that The Reds have been looking at Brighton’s Yves Bissouma but also said that the 24-year-old German international is somebody who they’ve been watching closely too. He said: “[As well as Bissouma] Neuhaus from ‘Gladbach is another one who is, at the very least, admired. I wouldn’t go any further than that and say ‘he’s one that’s definitely on the hit list’ but he’s got admirers within the club so I’d keep an eye on those two.”

Sir Kenny Dalglish, Jurgen Klopp, Steven Gerrard and many more….

Neuhaus has recently been selected in the German national squad to compete at the upcoming European Championships, so any potential deal to take him to Anfield may have to wait until the conclusion of that tournament, although there is no indication that Liverpool have any plans to make a formal offer at this time. With the Reds closing in on a deal to sign defender Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig, their attention could soon switch to bringing in a midfielder and it looks like Neuhaus is a name to keep an eye on.
