By Adam Brown – @AdamMNViRumours are already circulating over names which we could see in a Liverpool shirt next season as Klopp looks to bolster the Premier League champions. The Reds’ new status means there aren’t too many players who would turn down a move to Anfield. Klopp’s current centurion-bound crop is one of the best of the Premier League era, and while this is a positive in terms of attracting players, it’s imperative they’re the right fit for the club.Thiago is the latest player to be linked with a move to Liverpool, and some are claiming that the deal is already done.Operating in Bayern Munich’s midfield, the Spanish midfielder is a serial winner; winning eight league titles across his career as well as a Champions League with Barcelona. But how would he fit in at Liverpool?

The productivity of the front three would increaseLiverpool’s front three have become a crucial element in the success of Klopp’s tenure. Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino have contributed to 74 goals between them so far this season. It’s difficult to imagine how those numbers could improve – but adding a player like Thiago would do just that. The Munich maestro’s passing range is second-to-none. The likes of Salah and Mane would pose as even greater threats in behind enemy lines with the Spanish international looking to find them. Only two assists this season don’t tell the story with Thiago operating from defensive midfield in the majority of his appearances. A versatile midfield optionAdam Lallana is set to leave the club at the end of the season which means the Bundesliga star is a strong replacement as an option in the midfield three. There is less need for a ball-winning defensive midfielder against many sides in the Premier League – Fabinho can be rested against teams who have no intention of trying to win the game. Parking the bus? No problem. We’ll start Gini, Thiago and Keita. When Klopp uses the 4-2-3-1 system is another way in which the Bayern man would fit in perfectly at Anfield. The German Champions often deploy Thiago in a double pivot alongside Kimmich, but the versatility of the former Barcelona midfielder could mean we see him behind Roberto Firmino, forming a ‘front four’.Is age an issue?Given Thiago’s style is likened to David Silva who, at 34, has been an integral part of Manchester City’s success over the years, a 29-year-old Thiago is someone who FSG can gamble on.Of course, this breaks the transfer policy of signing young players who can develop and be sold later on for profit, but is this necessary when considering where we are now from when John Henry and Tom Werner took over in 2010? The Spanish midfielder could come into the side and guarantee success for the next three years.Verdict: If Thiago is available for the right price and isn’t requesting unreasonable wages, Liverpool should make a move to sign the star midfielder. The acquisition would, of course, mean more competition for places, but this is vital for any side competing to win the most sought-after trophies.By Adam Brown @AdamMNVi
