Liverpool narrowed the gap at the top of the Premier League table to three points last night with an emphatic 6-0 home victory over Leeds United. The Reds have been in superb form of late, winning their last nine games.

Manchester City have won three of the last four league titles, with Jurgen Klopp’s side the only team to challenge them, falling just short in 2018/19 before sealing a historic 19th title the following year.

Goal.com’s Neil Jones is a regular at the AXA Training Centre and was at Anfield last night to report on Liverpool’s demolition job.
On the latest episode of our Journo Insight Show, Neil shared his thoughts on Liverpool’s current form and whether or not he thought the Reds could lift the title in May.

Neil said:

“There was a real sense of ‘we’ll see you Sunday and let’s go again’. I asked Jurgen about the celebration last night. I thought that was brilliant. It just feels like there was a bit of extra feeling behind it. There’s something about Jurgen at the moment where I just think he fancies the lot. I think he really does feel like ‘This could be the best three months of my life’.

I always thought Liverpool were just a little bit short [In 2018/19]. I don’t feel with this Liverpool team. I feel like they can win it if it’s tight. I feel like they can win it in the last week of the season if they needed to. If they have to outscore City, they could do that.

If it meant that they have to go to City and beat them, I feel like they could do that. If it meant they have to just grind out a 0-0 and stay in the race, they can do that.”

Redmen Reacts

There was palpable disappointment amongst Liverpool fans just after Christmas, with draws against Spurs and Chelsea followed by a poor defeat to Leicester. A desperate attacking performance in the 0-0 EFL Cup draw with 10-man Arsenal led to many feeling the Reds would be better focussing on cup competitions this year, and that the Manchester City behemoth was simply too powerful to stop in the Premier League. Only two months later, Jurgen Klopp is the first manager since Joe Fagan in 1984 to be in with a chance of winning four trophies in a season.

The January addition of Luis Diaz and return of Harvey Elliott from long term injury have been a boost to everyone, and the club certainly have the momentum going into the last 12 games of the season. Hopefully, the lads can win the first of an amazing quadruple on Sunday afternoon!
