Divock Origi could still leave Liverpool before the end of the transfer window, according to the opinion of Goal’s Neil Jones.

The Belgian striker was left out of Liverpool’s squad for the win over Burnley at the weekend and whilst Jones told us that he’s unsure if that was transfer related, he knows the forward has trained as normal this week, which may hint at the possibility of a move.

Speaking to us on Transfer Insight Live, Neil said that he’s not heard that anything is imminent in terms of a transfer, and that his sources have told him that a move to Fenerbahce isn’t on the cards, but that he would not be surprised if Origi leaves before Tuesday’s deadline and that he’s certain Liverpool would accept any suitable bid for him.

He said:

“I still think that he’s the sort of player who you could see an offer coming in for late in the window. From someone who has tried maybe three or four other strikers and looked and thought ‘come on, Divock’s the one.’ It might be in the Premier League, it might be abroad but I could see him moving before the end of the window. If the offer’s right, Liverpool will definitely take it.”

It looks like Origi had fallen to at least sixth place in the ranking of Liverpool’s forwards, behind the famous front three, Diogo Jota and Taki Minamino, and perhaps even Harvey Elliott if Klopp wants to use him as a forward.

As such, it would make sense for all parties if a deal could be done, although that could make a few fans nervous about a lack of senior forward options.

Liverpool’s season was severely impacted by injuries last season, whilst both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will miss action in the New Year to compete in the AFCON.

As such, selling Origi without getting a replacement feels like a risk not worth taking but if The Reds can cash in on the Belgian and then find an adequate replacement, it feels like a no-brainer.
