The expectations at Liverpool Football Club are high. They don’t have to win the Premier League, but of course this is the most important trophy to aim for.
Liverpool will be towards the top of the league again, though as the latest English Premier League odds show, they are now firmly second favourites to win the title at 13.5 on the Betfair Exchange. This puts them behind Manchester City, though if anyone does overturn the City advantage, betting sites believe that will be Liverpool.
Even if they don’t win the league, Liverpool will continue to feature heavily in the latest EPL tips during each week of the season, as they are going to win a lot more games than they lose. That may not be enough though, especially given how Manchester City are playing right now.
Liverpool may have to look elsewhere for their silverware this season so let us look at the level of expectations at the club.
Premier League Win in 2020 Puts More Pressure on the Club
Expectations at Liverpool are high because the team is in a great place now. Not only are the star players at the club and performing, but depth of the squad has grown over the past couple of years, a question that was asked three or four years ago, when Liverpool began to truly emerge.

The reason why expectations have moved forward has been mainly down to Liverpool finally landing their first league title for 30 years. Although cup success has been coming during the dry spell, winning the big one was always the main aim.
Now fans have tasted that, they of course want more. It’s not just that though, memorable winning nights in Europe with Champions League success, a competition that the club has a rich history with. Their most recent success in the Champions League was a 2-0 victory over Tottenham in the final, back in 2019.
Seeing their club win the Premier League, and win yet another Champions League title, has been enough to make fans want more. There is a very high bar set at this club, and that is not a bad thing, where success is supposed to come on a very regular basis.
So, are we at the stage now where at least one trophy per season for Liverpool is a requirement? The answer is probably yes, and there is nothing wrong with having such high expectations on the team. Of course, we are not talking about sackings if there are no trophies, we are past that stage with Jurgen Klopp, but a season without silverware would probably be looked back on as being a slightly disappointing one for the club.
