Are Liverpool missing out on a bargain deal as 16 year old Jude Bellingham looks set to move to Dortmund for a 35 million euro deal?
With Adam Lallanna all set to leave the club in the summer, it is probable that Klopp and Michael Edwards are likely to be looking for his replacement, and that could be Bellingham. His box to box style of play is one that has a place in this current Liverpool side, and is often missed when Henderson and Wijnaldum aren’t on the field. He has also played on the wings and even deployed as a centre forward during his debut season for Birmingham, so are Liverpool missing out? Honestly, I don’t think they are, and this is due to the emergence of Curtis Jones. With Jones performances in the cup competitions for Liverpool this season he has proven that he can step up and play against the big sides when it is expected of him and with a longer run of games in the team he can only improve. Bellingham on the other hand is still untested at the highest level, and paying 35 million for a 16 year old may be too much of a risk. Although the prospect of playing for the current world champions may be enough to entice Bellingham to Anfield, he may find his development slowed and become unhappy at the lack of first team minutes he is likely to receive as he is likely to find himself as 7th/8th choice centre midfielder in a fully fit side. If the opportunity was there to get him for a lesser price or even for free much like the deal for Harvey Elliott, then it would be a good move to make but to pay 35 million for someone who is most likely going to be a youth player may be a costly mistake. Please login to view this content. <button class="lrm-hide-if-logged-in lrm-login hide-mobile">Login</button>
