Starting XI: How should Liverpool line up against Arsenal?
@AdamMNVi
With the international break out of the way, it’s time for Liverpool to get back to business as the title challenge restarts.
We left on bad terms before the break after a disastrous result against West Ham. While there should have certainly been a red card for the Hammers, the performance of The Reds wasn’t good enough overall.
Arsenal on Saturday evening is an opportunity to get into prime league position for Christmas Day, but there is a feeling that the game might be more difficult than in recent years with the Gunners easing their way into better form.
Here’s how we should line up:
A change to the defence sees Ibrahima Konate start alongside Virgil. Joe Gomez isn’t ready for this one as the Reds continue to cope with an endless run of injuries and Klopp’s luck is no better at full-back either with Robertson also on the injured list – at least we have strong cover in Kostas Tsimikas, but Liverpool may struggle if the injury curse continues beyond the weekend.
Fabinho was excellent for Brazil on international duty so has to come straight in for this one. There’s almost an aura of instant calmness with his name on the teamsheet; he is levels above anyone we have as the number six.
Thiago and Henderson start more advanced to dominate the midfield against Arsenal’s creative players.
The news looks positive regarding Sadio Mane after his injury scare with Senegal. I think he will be fit for this one, and he has an impressive record against Arsenal. Diogo Jota and Mo Salah complete the line up with Firmino not back from injury yet..
While we can’t write Arsenal off but Klopp’s style should be perfect in this one against a Gunners side who won’t come and park the bus to the extent that West Ham did last time out.
Score prediction: Liverpool 2 – 0 Arsenal
