Leeds United 1-6 Liverpool
Do not adjust your devices, Liverpool won an actual football match that wasn’t held in an L postcode.
After a shaky start, the Reds turned on the style and even managed to bounce back from an early second-half Leeds goal to run riot at Elland Road.
Diogo Jota returned to the scoresheet on two occasions with Mohamed Salah also bagging a brace. The ever-impressive Cody Gakpo had opened the scoring in the first half before Darwin Nunez over-iced the cake late on.
Here’s how I rated those involved:
Alisson Becker 7 – Little to do and no chance with the goal. Shouted at the backline for allowing a long-range effort to head in his general direction.
Trent Alexander-Arnold 9 MOM – Phenomenal in his new midfield role. Range of passing a delight and constantly influencing proceedings in a positive manner.
Ibrahima Konate 7 – Huge error for the Leeds goal but that aside this was another dominant display.
Virgil van Dijk 8 – More commanding than at times this season. Better.
Andy Robertson 7 – Marauding down the left for Liverpool goals? We know and love THAT Andy Robbo!

Jordan Henderson 7 – Busy as ever and looks to be getting used to have Alexander-Arnold in alongside him.
Fabinho 6 – Booked but overall performance more akin to what we’ve been accustomed to previously.
Curtis Jones 8 – A third start for the Scouser and a beautiful assist to add to a promising overall outing.
Diogo Jota 8 – Two much-needed goals after a drought. Smart assist for Salah’s first as well in a welcome top performance from Diogo.
Cody Gakpo 9 – Continues to impress in the early stages of his Liverpool career. A tap-in for the opener but his all-around game is clear for all to see and he’s kitting things together in Roberto Firmino-esque fashion.
Mohamed Salah 8 – Mo Salah doing Mo Salah things, especially against Leeds it seems. Two well-taken goals for the Egyptian King who is now the leading left-footed scorer in the Premier League.
Subs:
Thiago 6 – Late to the party but always boss to see him!
Darwin Nunez 7 – A goal to boost the confidence in what was a busy run out!
Roberto Firmino 6 – Some flicks and tricks to further prove why we’re going to miss him so much.
James Milner 6 – An outing against the club where it all began!
Conclusion: Phenomenal. Ruthless. Scintillating. Unfortunately, all too rare this season.
But, for tonight, we celebrate!
