Liverpool’s last five: WWWWW

Leicester: LDDWL

Liverpool will look to make it seven wins in a row when they take on a struggling Leicester side at the King Power Stadium tonight. Liverpool’s late renaissance in form is reminiscent of their titanic tussles with Manchester City during the last half-decade, giving the fans reason for optimism.
The Anfield club still have hopes of a top-four finish firmly in their sights, and with Manchester United and Newcastle seemingly faltering in recent weeks they will be keen to keep the pressure on as they chase the pack.

Leicester City on the other hand will be fighting for their lives, as they look to avoid relegation. The Foxes haven’t kept a clean sheet in the Premier League since November and sit in 19th place, only relegated Southampton sit below the Midlands outfit.

Leicester v Liverpool | Match Preview

The two teams endured a bizarre fixture at Anfield earlier in the season, one that Wout Faes won’t want to be reminded of. The Belgian centre-half scored two comical own-goals and gifted the Reds three points back in December.

Jordan Henderson will return to the squad after his absence against Brentford last week but Klopp has confirmed that Liverpool will still be without outgoing Roberto Firmino, admitting he is still a few days away from returning. Meanwhile, midfield trio Stefan Bajcetic, Naby Keita, and Thiago are still missing through injury and are all unlikely to feature again this season.

Here’s how I think Liverpool will line up:

I suspect that Jurgen Klopp will revert to his favoured 4-3-3, and the double pivot of Jones and Fabinho from the Brentford fixture will become a midfield three, which includes Jordan Henderson.

I also expect Cody Gakpo to return to his familiar role as a striker, with Diogo Jota and Mohammed Salah on either side.

XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Roberson; Fabinho, Jones, Henderson; Salah, Gakpo, Jota.
