Liverpool kicked off the week with two very important away fixtures in their busy March schedule. A win against Arsenal was vital in the chase for the Premier League title and a tough trip to Nottingham Forest was on the cards as the Reds looked to earn progression into the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

If you have missed anything regarding LFC in the past week, don’t worry we’ve got you covered!

March 14th

Liverpool announced The Rolling Stones would be playing at Anfield on the 9th of June to mark the start of their UK anniversary tour.

Ian Rush was announced as another manager for LFC legends for their game against Barcelona legends on March 26th.

March 15th

Mo Salah was named the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month for February, another individual award for the Egyptian.

The Standard Chartered Player of the Month for February was awarded to Virgil Van Dijk for his exceptional recent performances.

Liverpool Under 19’s took on Juventus in the UEFA Youth League, unfortunately suffering a 2-0 defeat.

March 16th

It was matchday as Liverpool travelled to the capital to take on Arsenal in their 29th game of the Premier League season.

Klopp made just two changes from the Brighton win as Fabinho came into midfield for Keita and Jota was introduced back into the front three over the injured Mo Salah.

Two quick second-half goals from Diogoal Jota and Bobby Firmino earned Liverpool a hard-fought victory over the Gunners.

Bobby made it nine goals in 16 appearances against Arsenal, a prolific record.

The game marked 100 away wins for Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager and Andy Robertson reached a landmark 50 assists for the Reds.

Robertson was voted Player of the Match for his performance.

Liverpool are now in second place just one point behind Man City with the same amount of games played.

March 17th

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson were both selected for the latest England squad.

The LFC Foundation released their full squad ahead of the legends game against Barca. The likes of Daniel Agger, Jerzy Dudek, Sami Hypia, Dirk Kuyt, Steven Gerrard and Luis Garcia will all feature on the 26th.

March 18th

It was UCL draw day as Liverpool were set to find out who their Champions League quarter-final opponents would be, as well as their potential semi-final opponents. The possible teams included:

  • Real Madrid
  • Man City
  • Chelsea
  • Villarreal
  • Benfica
  • Bayern Munich
  • Atletico Madrid

The Reds found out Benfica would be their quarter-final opponents, with a then potential semi-final against either Bayern Munich or Villarreal. A great draw for Liverpool and I’m sure most if not all Reds are delighted. Klopp and his men will travel to Benfica for the first leg on April 5th, with the return leg at Anfield on the 13th.

Other quarter-final games consist of:

  • Villarreal vs Bayern Munich (6th April)
  • Man City vs Atletico Madrid (5th April)
  • Chelsea vs Real Madrid (6th April)

March 19th

Liverpool under 18s drew 1-1 with Derby County in the Premier League U18.

March 20th

For the first time in 23 years, Liverpool faced Nottingham Forest with an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on their minds.

LFC Women also took on Charlton Athletic, the match finished 0-0.

Klopp made a few expected changes as Gomez, Konate and Tsimikas all came back into the defence, Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain got a start in midfield and Elliot featured in the front three alongside Jota and Firmino.

A very tough game for the Reds, however another goal from Jota in a 1-0 win was enough to earn Liverpool’s progression into the semi-finals.

The win meant that the Reds will now face Manchester City at Wembley on the 16th of April in the semi-final. Chelsea take on Crystal Place in the other. Liverpool will now face Man City twice in April in two of our most important games of the season.

March 21st

Liverpool celebrated the birthday of current loanee Nat Phillips. The centre-half turns 25 today.

A very successful week for the Reds as we keep up our excellent form. The next few weeks will be interesting and extremely nerve-racking, so strap yourselves in and prepare yourself for a potential very successful end of season.

The Reds have Watford next on Saturday the 2nd of April with the chance to go top of the Premier League, then an away trip to Benfica, followed by a return to the Etihad to play Man City.
