The match ends 1–0 in favour of Liverpool, courtesy of a superbly taken goal by Diogo Jota. The Reds have successfully bounced back from two heartbreaking defeats before the international break with a hard-fought win today. Despite the scoreline, the match was packed with talking points, including controversial VAR decisions and intriguing individual performances.
As mentioned earlier, it’s important to discuss the VAR and refereeing decisions in today’s match, just as it was in the reverse fixture between these two teams. Tarkowski’s challenge on Mac Allister in the 11th minute remains the main talking point post-match, with even Gary Neville agreeing that the Englishman should have been sent off. James Tarkowski won the ball but followed through with a reckless, studs-up challenge on Alexis Mac Allister’s ankle — a potential career-ending tackle. The correct decision seemed clear, yet despite VAR intervention, the on-field call remained unchanged. Fortunately, this decision did not affect the match’s outcome, thanks to the influence of Anfield and the determination of the players.

While it wasn’t a vintage Liverpool performance, the Reds did just enough to get over the line and, ultimately, deserved the victory. It’s clear that the international break was much needed for the likes of Ryan Gravenberch, Luis Diaz, and Diogo Jota, as their performance levels were outstanding today. Luis Diaz created 6 chances today — 2 more than the entire Everton team combined. Though Liverpool’s main man Mohamed Salah still appeared fatigued, it’s clear that the international break couldn’t have come sooner for some of these players. Liverpool now need just 4 more wins to officially secure the Premier League title, as they sit 12 points clear of Arsenal. Both players and fans will be hopeful that celebrations for the Premier League title are on the horizon come season’s end.
Will Liverpool be in the market for a new left-back?

Back to winning ways! The significance of any win over Everton is always huge, but this felt more to me. After the dismal week and the torturous break, this was an opportunity to kickstart our turn for home, regain some poise, and gain momentum, and we did.
