Liverpool welcomed Leicester City to Anfield as The Reds looked to end the year on a high, but just who stood out on the night?

Alisson Becker 6 – He had a quiet game in general, Leicester didn’t really put the Brazilian under too much pressure, but he did make a good save from Harvey Barnes to preserve the victory.

Thiago Alcantara 7 – Nearly got the reds back on terms with a lovely Mazy solo move, that almost left The Foxes in sixes and sevens, but it was just one trick too many from him early on. Also, he had an excellent challenge to prevent Leicester from doubling their advantage.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 6 – Showcased his defending at the back post prevented Jamie Vardy from getting a threatening shot away, provided the cross for the equaliser, and overall a much better defensive performance tonight.

Joel Matip 5– Very good defending up against Barnes, but partly at fault for the Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall goal.

Virgil van Dijk 5 – Managed to deal with most threats really well, although he didn’t get tight enough to his man for the goal, which led to a simple pass being played through and Liverpool going 1-0 down.

Andy Robertson 5 – Produced a super tackle to prevent the Foxes from scoring again, however, he was caught in two minds for the goal we conceded.

Harvey Elliott 7 – Nice and bright from the start, probably our most fearless player on the evening. He took a few tough tackles too, so he deserves a lot of credit for his bravery.

Jordan Henderson 5 – Came close to making it 3-1 with a nice curling effort just wide of the post. Other than that, not his best performance.

Mohamed Salah 6 – Had a fantastic chance to make it a comfortable night for Liverpool but the ball went well wide, he should have then wrapped the game up but his attempt went straight at Danny Ward, also he brought an excellent save out of the Leicester goalkeeper late on.

Darwin Nunez 7 – He made the run and had the shot that led to the second own goal by Wout Faes, as the reds had the lead at the break. He had a good chance to score with about 25 minutes to go and was very busy and bright during the game.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 3 – Stayed on for an hour, but he struggled to make an impact, unfortunately.

Subs

Naby Keita 5 – Showed off his lovely passing range to set up a great chance for Nunez, not too bad during his short time on the field.

Kostas Tsimikas 5 –A brilliant run from the Greek man had the potential for the game-clinching goal, but it just wasn’t to be.

Joe Gomez 6 – Saw the game out well no panic!

Stefan Bajcetic 6 – Positive signs once again from the young man, showed determination in abundance whilst making a super tackle in the process.

Conclusion

A most bizarre game that included two own goals from Faes, that ultimately got The Reds over the line. A much-improved performance is needed on Monday when Liverpool travel to London to face Brentford.
