Top Of The Table

A massive result for Liverpool tonight over a very defensive but highly dangerous attacking Tottenham side. It was always going to be a tough match with Mourinho somehow always managing to come to Anfield with any team and frustrate us all massively but we always seem to get the better of him and we did just that tonight!

This Liverpool team is phenomenal, battered by injuries so far this season and coming into the busiest period of the season into the last 16 of the Champions League and beating their nearest rivals to go top of the league. There are just no words to describe the pure desire and determination of this Liverpool squad to knuckle down when it’s needed and get the results.

Young Rhys Williams made his Premier League debut tonight and it was a big test up against Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane who are a brilliant duo but I thought he handled them well, kept his cool, and did his job well alongside Fabinho.

Curtis Jones again playing exceptionally well in midfield, he has taken that spot and made it his own in the absence of some key players and he hasn’t looked out of place once. He’s confident on the ball, willing to drive forward and create chances and he’s not afraid to throw a few tricks in either. The future is looking very bright for this Liverpool squad and it’s lovely to see.

Tottenham had plenty of chances themselves in this match. Great counter-attack goal from them to equalise via Son and then opportunities for Steven Bergweijn and Harry Kane that could have buried the game for them but thankfully it was Liverpool who walked away with the three points.

GET IN BOBBY!

So happy for Bobby Firmino tonight, getting the all-important goal and you could see what it meant to him, the team, and the fans. I feel like Firmino is starting to gain his confidence back and he has been performing well in recent matches, tonight he was hunting the ball down and putting the Spurs defenders under pressure and he had a couple of opportunities on goal throughout the game too.

His header was brilliant, Toby Alderwiereld just lets him go and that opens up a bit of space for him but he gets good contact on the ball and the keeper had no chance.

Crystal Palace Up Next

Crystal Palace away on Saturday, two days to recover and train ahead of that game but I’m confident we can give a good performance.
