Phenomenal, simply phenomenal. Liverpool were relentless today as they stormed past a struggling Bournemouth side to secure their first win of the season. 3 points doesn’t feel like enough after that kind of performance!
Alisson – 7
Although the Brazilian didn’t have much to deal with today, he was solid all round, from his excellent distribution to collecting the trailing shots that very rarely did come his way.
Trent – 10
What can I say? That’s why he is the best right back in the world. An imperious strike sent from heaven, just beautiful. If anybody deserves a 10/10 it is this man, it’s exactly what he needed after a poor start to the season.
Van Dijk – 8
The flying Dutchman! Van Dijk lost his man in the box and towered above him to place his header past Tavers to make it 5 just before halftime. He will be satisfied with his first clean sheet of the season.
Gomez – 8
Van Dijk’s sidekick had a quiet game today, which is always good news for a defender. Nothing else to say but solid.
Robertson – 9
Robertson was phenomenal today, much like the rest of the squad. He made his pinpoint cross to find the head of Van Dijk from the corner look easy and setup Firmino for his second goal later. Robertson is back!
Fabinho – 8
Much like Henderson he provided strength in the middle, something Liverpool have lacked in recent weeks. Bournemouth rarely made it out of their own half, and it was normally this man acting as a brick wall stopping them.
Henderson – 8
A well-rounded performance from the captain today, he may have endured a lot of criticism in the first few opening games of the season but today he impressed and showed that he should be in the starting line-up. Well, that is until Thiago is back anyway.
Elliott – 9
Harvey only played the first half today, but it felt like he had a point to prove as he tries to make his way back into the regular starting eleven. He was simply brilliant today; I think sometimes we forget that he is only 19 years old. An emphatic finish at the edge of the box, leaving the Travers in no man’s land was his highlight of the game.
Diaz – 9
What a leap, what a header! Diaz has scored in back-to-back home games this season, securing 2 excellent goals today in a fantastic performance. His first goal was incredible as he launched himself in the air to blast his header into the back of the net. The Columbian just can’t be stopped this season.
Firmino – 10
This might be Firmino’s best game in a Liverpool shirt. The Brazilian completed a hattrick of assists and claimed his first goal at Anfield since 2020 with a karate kick finish and scored another in the second half to round of a perfect game. He seemed to have x-ray vision today as he saw through the Bournemouth players, finding passes nobody else could see. What a performance!
Salah – 8
I think somebody had a voodoo doll of Salah today and every time he came close to scoring, they twitched his leg a little bit to throw him off balance. Seriously though, 9-0 and no goal? No assist? Unbelievable. Still, he had a great game and was involved in almost every goal in some way or another.
Subs
Milner – 7
Came on, secured the win. Not much else to say.
Bajcetic – 7
Imagine having your Anfield debut at just 17 and being involved in a 9-0 goal rout! Bajcetic is a fantastic young talent and he showed it at the highest-level today in front of the Kop.
Tsimikas – 9
The Greek God replaced Robertson halfway into the second half and instantly brought pace and agility into Liverpool’s attack. Two assists for him today as he rounds off a great substitute appearance. You get the feeling that there are a few places in the team under intense competition at the moment and certainly left back is one of them.
Carvalho – 9
His first goal for Liverpool! To take it first time on the volley like that takes a lot of confidence, that’s what this young man can do.
Bobby Clark – 7
Clark came on and absolutely dominated the game! No I am joking, but seriously, to have 7 minutes under his belt at such a young age will give him a huge confidence boost.
