This weekend Liverpool FC Women face Arsenal at home in the Women’s Super League and it is bound to be a tough fixture.
Arsenal currently sit second in the WSL table just two points off league leaders Manchester City meaning a win at Prenton Park will put them top and put the pressure back on City.
The Gunners have a fantastic team that is full of young and exciting players as well as some very experienced WSL players meaning that they are a force to be reckoned with this season. However, one person who will cause the most problems for Liverpool on Sunday is Vivianne Miedema. The 22-year-old Dutch striker is having the best season of her career so far with her scoring 22 goals in 15 goals this season and averaging a goal every 70 minutes. It is no surprise that she is getting on the scoresheet pretty much every week with the support she has from the players behind her, the likes of Beth Mead, Danielle Van De Donk and Kim Little…not too bad.

In this fixture on the opening day of the season the Reds suffered a 5-0 defeat which was very unexpected and you just knew that Arsenal meant business this season. Having already reached the Continental Cup final this season, they lost to Man City, and having a good spell in the FA Cup and are very much on course for a Champions League finish, the Reds will find it difficult on Sunday.
After the heartbreak of losing in the FA Cup final to Chelsea last season, not winning the league and people focusing more on City and Chelsea, Arsenal have returned with vengeance this season and are out to prove a point and that is that they can be top dogs of English Women’s football.
One player who could turn the game around for us though would be Courtney Sweetman-Kirk. The striker has already hit double figures for us this season and is always looking to get on the scoresheet. Arsenal will want to keep her quiet, which isn’t an easy task, and stop her from nicking a goal.
