The 2010s were a time of unbelievable change for Liverpool FC, both in the dressing room and on the pitch. After fumbling around for a reliable setup after Rafa Benitez left, Liverpool eventually ended up with one of the greatest managers in their history, who will forever be remembered for bringing back the glory days.
So, what direction are Liverpool going to go in next? Many people are backing the Reds ahead of the new season and it could be time to check bookmaker reviews, such as a Quinnbet review, before placing any bets on the new season.
Many of the best matches from the 2010s were under the stewardship of Jurgen Klopp, but there were other good times, too.
Liverpool 2-0 Tottenham¾2019 Champions League Final
We won’t pretend it was a classic match but if you are a Liverpool fan, it is one that you will never forget. It was especially brilliant for those who made the trip to Madrid.
Goals from Mo Salah and cult hero Divock Origi put Liverpool’s name on the Champions League trophy once again. The match was a poor spectacle for neutrals but for Liverpool fans, there was a lot to like about it, especially as there were very few threats from the Spurs front line.
Liverpool 5-1 Arsenal¾February 2014 (Premier League)
Although the Brendan Rodgers era will be remembered mainly as a time of ‘what ifs’, that doesn’t mean we didn’t have some amazing moments during it. In 2014, the Gunners came to Anfield on top of the league and certainly weren’t expecting what awaited them.
For the first 20 minutes, Liverpool were unplayable, with amazing pressing football that Arsenal just couldn’t cope with. It was 4-0 after 20 minutes. Two goals from defender Martin Skrtel, Raheem Sterlin, and Daniel Sturridge took the game out of reach for Arsenal before they knew what was happening.
Okay, the second half wasn’t as amazing and we could’ve done without conceding a penalty in the 69th minute, but this will still go down as a classic game.
Liverpool 4-3 Man City¾January 2018 (Premier League)
The question on everyone’s lips going into this game was whether Manchester City were going to manage a season unbeaten.
Matchups between Klopp and Guardiola are always full of drama, and on this occasion, Liverpool were well on top. They were 4-1 up at one stage of the match, in spite of playing against some of the greatest players in the world on the day.
Klopp’s squad was able to hold on in spite of late goals from Silva and Gündogan. Klopp made a statement about Liverpool’s staying power in the process as some were speculating about whether their success was a flash in the pan.
