Liverpool took on A.F.C. Bournemouth  at Anfield on Saturday afternoon, as The Reds went on the hunt for a first three points of the new season, but what exactly did we learn from the encounter?

The Reds started like a team that had a point to prove and it didn’t take them long to make the break through when Roberto Firmino set up Luis Diaz for a header that flew past Mark Travers, to give Liverpool an excellent start.

Jurgen’s men didn’t have to wait long to double their lead as a lovely flowing move ended up at Firmino’s feet, as he set up Harvey Elliott  who simply unleashed a rocket of a shot that arrowed into the bottom left hand corner to score his first senior Liverpool goal, as Liverpool were in full flow.

Then it was Trent Alexander-Arnold’s turn to get in on the act as he ran forward with intent The Cherries defence failed to close him down, so the local man let fly with a wonderful shot into the top left hand corner of Travers net to all but wrap the game up.

Shortly after the half hour mark it was four when a Mohamed Salah pass looped into the box from an unlucky deflection, that ended up finding its way to Firmino right in front of goal and he had the simple task of knocking the ball home, as The Cherries were  in big trouble, and it wasn’t even half time.

Liverpool made it five before the break at Anfield, this time it was Andy Robertson who provided the assist from a pinpoint corner that landed right on top of Virgil van Dijk’s head to nod the ball home, as everyone associated with Liverpool football club were enjoying themselves in the sunshine.

The second half started horribly for The Cherries when Chris Mepham turned Alexander-Arnold’s cross into his own net, as Bournemouth’s day went from bad to worse.

Firmino  joined the goal scoring party once again as Robertson whipped one in with curl it proved too hot for Travers to handle, and The Bobby Dazzler took full advantage sticking the ball away to make it seven.

Then Kostas Tsimikas helped set up Fabio Carvalho who had all the time in the world to produce a fantastic finish into the right hand corner of  the net, to give The Kop their chance to welcome the new man with open arms on a day when Liverpool could do no wrong.

And unbelievably the misery was not complete there for The Cherries as Tsimikas set up Diaz from a corner to score another fine header, and in the process equal a premier league record by winning a football match 9-0.

Conclusion

It was a day where Liverpool simply let the hand break off and left all their worries and fears behind them, as they discovered their form from last season, it was also nice to see a few of the younger players get a nice run out and in the process cover themselves in glory, every Liverpool player had a more than decent performance and hopefully this is the spring board to well and truly kick start their season.
