Liverpool have been handed a huge boost ahead of this weekend’s clash with Watford at Vicarage Road as manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Diogo Jota, who was an injury doubt for the game, looks set to be available to play.
Jota sat out all of Portugal’s international games in the past week with a muscle issue, but speaking to the official Liverpool FC website, Klopp revealed that the forward is set to feature in the game.
He said:
“So it looks really like Trent [Alexander-Arnold] and Diogo will be fine, they will train with us tomorrow completely normal, that’s the plan.”
Redmen Reacts
We had an idea that Alexander-Arnold would be ready to play after he was pictured in training yesterday, but the news that Jota looks like he will also be fit for the game is a massive boost, one that will delight the Reds’ boss, and the club’s supporters.
With it looking like Liverpool will be without Alisson and Fabinho due to their international commitments, it would have been a blow to be without another star player, but Jota’s inclusion in the match-day squad means that won’t be the case.
Given he’s had a few niggles, Jota will likely start the game on the bench but he’ll be readily available to come on and replace Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah if needed.
We expect it to be a tough game at Vicarage Road so having Jota available is a huge boost to Klopp as Liverpool look to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
