Liverpool Women head to West Ham on Sunday afternoon in search of three important points.

The Reds have had a tough season so far and currently sit second from bottom of the table with six points to their name and a win this weekend would put not only the players but the fans in high spirits.

Nine Games Remaining

Nine games are what stand in front of Liverpool and possible relegation.

A tough start to the year with a defeat against Birmingham City meant that Liverpool travelled to Bristol City needing three points to lift themselves off the bottom. They walked away from that game with the win and full of confidence leading to an 8-1 away win at Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup but bad weather prevented them from playing a game for nearly three weeks.

After 21 days of no football, Liverpool found themselves at the Deva Stadium in Chester, half the pitch was in Wales and the other in England, facing last seasons’ WSL champions Arsenal. It was a lively game with five goals scored but it was the Gunners who clenched the three points.

West Ham awaits this weekend followed by a home game to Manchester City and then an away match at Reading. Three massive games in the relegation battle.

West Ham

West Ham has not been in the best of form lately winning only one of their last five matches against Brighton in January. They suffered a devastating defeat to Chelsea two weeks ago with the Blues scoring eight to West Ham’s zero and that shows the difference in the teams in the top half of the table.

West Ham went professional in 2018 and competed in the Women’s Super League for the first time in the 2018/19 season finishing seventh with 23 points, one ahead of Liverpool, and reaching the FA Cup final which they lost to Manchester City.

Although eight of their goals game against Chelsea, West Ham have conceded 15 goals in their last five games and have scored three. Liverpool, believe it or not, have got one of the best defences in their league.

My predicted XI –

Preuss, Jane, Bradley-Auckland, Fahey, Robe, Roberts, Bailey, Furness, Lawley, Babajide, Charles.
