With the Reds’ search for a left-sided centre-back going on, Chelsea academy graduate and Euro U21 winner Levi Colwill would appear to be a fantastic candidate to upgrade the defensive options.
At just 20 years old, Colwill has drawn interest from many top clubs such as Manchester City, Brighton and also, of course, Liverpool. With a catalogue of incredible performances under his belt both during a Premier League loan spell with Brighton and during the recent Young Lions’ triumph, the starlet’s transfer price has skyrocketed to a reported £80million, while the London club are also trying to tie him down to a long term contract.
During this week’s episode of Transfer Insight with Dan Clubbe, we spoke to Football London writer Bobby Vincent to talk about the ongoing transfer saga between the two clubs.
BOBBY FIRMINO: BEST IN THE WORLD
Bobby said:
“He’s super highly rated and has been for some time. He’s always been someone who looks like he has all the ingredients to be a top centre-back one day.
“I could see [Chelsea] play hardball, to be honest. I could see Chelsea asking for a ridiculous amount for him. Brighton offered somewhere near £50million in their second bid and that was considered not anywhere near enough.
“Liverpool really want him but probably won’t put a bid in until they know that it would be accepted.
“He’s probably someone who’s considered a future captain of the club. The conversations he has with Pochettino and his family, they’re the important ones”
