Liverpool have reportedly made contact with Alexander Isak’s representatives in what could be a very promising move for Liverpool fans since it would allow their front three to become much more fluid to create and score more chances next season. The Swedish striker is like no other in the league, he is fast, strong, and technically brilliant whilst also being a world-class finisher. He currently interchanges with Anthony Gordon very well since he likes to make direct diagonal runs into the box, this would be replicated almost exactly with Salah as he can use his pace to play off Isak and also to create space to exploit teams.
The Newcastle striker has been in excellent form this season, racking up 23 goals and five assists in all competitions. He also played a huge part in the cup final against Liverpool as he popped up with a goal whilst also running the legendary van Dijk across the park.
The 24-year-old is more than just a traditional number nine; his ability to drop deep, link play, and drive at defenders would make him an excellent fit for a Liverpool system that has long relied on intelligent forward play.

Under Slot, Liverpool have shifted towards a more controlled possession-based style, with an emphasis on technical security and pressing triggers. Isak, with his elite ball control and ability to operate in tight spaces, would provide a balance between pace in transition and intricate build-up play something Liverpool lacked at times.
Unlike Núñez, who often struggles with composure in key moments, Isak is an ice-cold finisher with a wide array of goals—curling efforts, one-on-one finishes, and powerful strikes from outside the box. His xG overperformance highlights his ability to finish chances at a high level, something Liverpool have lacked at times.
One of Isak’s standout attributes is his ability to play across the front three. While primarily a striker, he is equally comfortable drifting to the left, where he can cut inside and combine with a creative playmaker or overlapping full-back.
Will Liverpool be in the market for a new left-back?
Liverpool’s fluid attacking patterns require a striker who can link play rather than just serve as a pure poacher. Isak’s ability to hold up the ball, turn defenders, and bring others into play would benefit players like Mohamed Salah and Luis Díaz, allowing them to make diagonal runs beyond him.
Whilst the worry may be that bringing in Isak – described as ‘confident and cool’ by Alan Shearer – may be that Liverpool would lose the defensive actions that Nunez offers, Isak ranks in the 84th percentile for blocks among attackers in the top five leagues.
Isak’s creative abilities rank amongst the best in Europe, he averages 2.91 progressive passes per game which has him in the top 89 percent of attackers. To coincide with that he puts up an average of 2.88 successful carries per game which makes him in the top 92 percent of all attackers. This demonstrates how versatile and elite he is as an attacker with his brutal drive to get on board and dominate teams.
