TeamTalk are reporting this morning that Liverpool are set to open talks with Mo Salah regarding a new contract. The winger has been on fine form this season with his goal tally hitting 31 at the weekend in Liverpool’s 4-1 win over West Ham. The Reds want to offer him a new contract in order to keep the Egyptian at Anfield and reports say that Salah is more than willing to sign a new deal as he is very happy to stay on Merseyside.
Liverpool have been linked with Roma goalkeeper Alisson this year and reports suggest that Jürgen Klopp wants to bring him to Anfield this summer. The Liverpool Echo report that Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon has come out and said that he rates Alisson very highly saying “He is a surprise only for those who haven’t seen him before. What really strikes me is how he deals with dangerous situations so efficiently”.
Full back Trent Alexander-Arnold has had to compete with Joe Gomez and Nathaniel Clyne for the permanent right-back position at Anfield this season. The Liverpool Echo have reported that Trent thinks that competition is key to improvement saying “I think that competition for places is a big part of Liverpool Football Club and to know you have to fight for your place is healthy”.
Liverpool’s squad has been rotated a lot this season but it is paying off now as we come to final games as Klopp has a fully fit squad at his disposal and that will benefit us over the remainder of the season.
Liverpool Echo writer James Pearce reports that Daniel Sturridge has suffered another injury set back and is expected to be out until the middle of March. It’s a tough time for both West Brom, who paid £3.8 million to take him on loan in January and also pay his weekly wage bill, and Sturridge who has been having an injury nightmare for some time now and will want to put it all behind him and get back to playing regular football.
The Telegraph have made a lit of their Top 20 Premier League players for February and Liverpool have a total of 6 players included in the line-up. In 20th place is Trent Alexander-Arnold who has recorded the second most touches in the Premier League this month. Emre Can is in 16th having put in some dominant displays over recent games, Virgil Van Dijk takes 15th spot having been a rock at centre-back for the Reds, and fan favourite Andy Robertson is in 12th place with striker Roberto Firmino taking up 5th and has been ???the key to Liverpool’s front three flowing so fluidly’ so far this season. There is no surprise who takes the top spot with Mo Salah being number 1, he has been on form this season and has scored 4 goals and grabbed two assists in his last three games.
