Liverpool come into this fixture on somewhat of a high following the heroics of Darwin Nunez at St James’ Park and the deadline-day arrival of Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich.
However, The Reds know that the visit of a resurgent Aston Villa will provide a whole new set of challenges and another stern test of Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Let’s take a look at how the match could pan out and the all-important team news…
Liverpool v Aston Villa | The Match Preview Show
Despite a humbling day defeat at the hands of Newcastle United, Unai Emery’s side have quickly regained their composure and look like the dangerous outfit the Spaniard had created towards the latter part of the 2022/23 campaign.
With attacking prowess such as Moussa Diaby, Ollie Watkins and flying full-back Matty Cash, Liverpool will be wary of the threat posed by the visitors.
Central defender Ibou Konate is likely to miss out through injury and Klopp’s side will be further weakened by the absence of captain Virgil van Dijk following his dismissal in the North East last weekend.
Curtis Jones and Stefan Bajceti have both returned to training and therefore could be in contention, meanwhile, Thiago remains absent following a ‘setback’ in his recovery.
Unfortunately, it appears as though Gravenberch will be unavailable having failed to be registered before the cut-off point with the Premier League.
Predicted XI
Given the lack of options, the backline well and truly picks itself whilst the Dutchman’s ineligibility means the midfield is also a relatively straightforward choice for Klopp.
In attack, Nunez gave the boss a major decision to make and albeit the German has so far been reluctant to name a side without Cody Gakpo, the Uruguayan’s exploits simply cannot be overlooked.
My XI: Alisson; Trent Alexander Arnold, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez, Andy Robertson; Wataru Endo, Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister; Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez.

Redmen Reacts
Yet another tricky fixture in what has been a difficult opening four for The Reds.
But, pick up all three points here and it will have been a superb start to the campaign and Liverpool can go into the first international break of the season believing anything is possible for the remainder.
