A controlled and dominant performance from the Reds this afternoon with goals from Salah, 4 and Bobby 1. Always looked comfortable and could have been more!
Loris Karius 7
Might be a little generous a 7 as he didn’t really have much to do. Distribution, calmness and a clean sheet all positives for an ever improving Karius.
Joe Gomez 7
Good performance from Gomez. Always made the right choices when going forward, great link up play with Mo Salah and was unlucky not to get himself an assist. Considering he has been out for a few weeks and he was up against some tough, physical opponents I thought he did well. The ball over the top always concerns me with Joe, it seems to catch him out frequently.
Joel Matip 7
Again like Gomez, went about his business quietly against the likes of Okaka, Dacoure and more. Kept Deeney so quiet I forgot he was even playing. Looked assured through out the game, another calm and composed performance for him.
Virgil Van Dijk 8
Given him an 8 which may seem high. But his passing, range of passing and accuracy of passing is sublime, even with his fucking head. The stability he brings to that defence can never be under estimated. He bosses the area and his team mates. Lets be honest, anything anyone else did on that pitch today was over shadowed by
Andy Robertson 7
Love him. Another tireless performance. Gave a humble and modest interview for BT before the game, become a fan favourite quickly because of his attitude and work rate. Dealt with Watford well, always looked comfortable and much like Van Dijk he has brought calmness to this defence.
Emre Can 6
Great tracking back and passing when he was on. Wasn’t on long enough to warrant anything more. Get well soon Emre.
Jordan Henderson 8
Often goes underrated or unfairly criticised Henderson, admittedly by myself but today he was instrumental in that midfield three. Always wanted the ball off Karius or the back four looking to play it forward quickly and with intent. Had a hairy moment or two in the first half but fortunately it didn’t lead to anything. Much improved second half.
Gini Wijnaldum – 7
Difficult one Gini, he doesn’t do anything spectacular but he does all the dirty work and he’s brilliant at it. That might consist of pestering the opposition in small spaces, winning the ball back and playing simple passes but someone in that side needs to do it. Also a huge fan of him knocking people off the ball with his arse.
Sadio Mane 9
Sadio Mane was superb in that game. He won’t get the plaudits because of Mo and Bobby but he managed two assists and a lot of his work will go unnoticed. He played an integral part in other goals and was a nuisance for that Watford defence. Passing was on point, link up play with Robertson was again superb. Was just missing a goal!
Mo Salah 10, obviously.
I don’t know where to start. 4 goals, an assist and putting three defenders on their arse in the process. What else can you say about him. It could have been more. He was a threat from the get go and Watford just couldn’t deal with him. And to be fair I’m not sure how you can. At times three, four players tried to stop him and they couldn’t.
Roberto Firmino 9
I love Bobby. I think he struggled along with many in parts during the first half with conditions but he soon found his groove. He is the pinnacle of this Jurgen Klopp side, he starts the press, hounds the ‘keeper and put 100% into everything he does. At times I think he loses the ball on purpose just so he can win it back! The finish for his goal was something else. Absolute filth.
Subs
Milner 8
On early for Can and his performances of late have been terrific. As the more senior player in the team he has recently been an inspiration and set the tone for others around him in terms of performance and attitude. He’s a proven winner and I think he is installing that in players around him.
Danny Ings 7
Wasn’t on for that long and could have had 2 goals! It just wont happen for him. Im confident if he ever started a game or got more minutes he would score. But you cant risk leaving our Bobby out. Work rate and effort top notch again.
Alex Oxlade- Chamberlain 6
Like Ings he wasn’t on for that long but he will always be a threat in this side. His performances appear to be slightly better when coming on from the bench, he looks hungry to improve and impress.
