Well that was a bit rubbish wasn’t it. To be completely honest I’m more bothered by the fact that we got beat by Chelsea rather than the fact we got knocked out of the cup.Two seasons ago that would have been a full strength side for us, add a few new additions like Shaqiri and Fabinho who I thought did well for majority of the game, but tonight it just didn’t work out.Fabinho still needs time
I thought Fabinho had a decent second half, it took him a while to get into the game having only featured in one minute of the Southampton game. You can understand why it took him so long to come into the starting eleven and I think he still needs a couple more appearances to adjust to English football.
In the first half I think he struggled a bit, he was taking too much time on the ball trying to find that perfect pass which is understandable but sometimes he just needed to release it a bit earlier. I think after a few more games and once he gets into the swing of things like he did in the second half, he will be a brilliant player for us in midfield.
Daniel Sturridge getting back to his best?
That’s now two goals in the space of a week for Daniel Sturridge and it is nice to see him back firing for the Reds. Take a minute to be annoyed at him for missing two sitters, one in the first half and one in the second half, but I thought he had a really good game. He was getting into good areas, always looking up to see if there was a pass or if he had an opportunity to shoot at goal and obviously his goal was perfect and came at the right moment for us in the game.
He’ll be kicking himself tonight when he re-watches the game and see’s the chances he had but we’ve got to give him credit for everything he did right in the game and I feel like it is going to be a big season for him.
Is anyone really bothered about this cup?
Yes it would be nice to win a trophy. Yes this was probably the easiest one to win. Am I really bothered that we now don’t have the opportunity to win it? Not really.
I’m more bothered by the fact we got beat by Chelsea rather than the fact we got knocked out the cup as the hatred for London side has reached a new level. Let them have this cup, they don’t have anything else to focus on and i’d rather us focus on the league and the Champions League than concentrate on winning the Caraboa cup and I think we can all say we’d rather batter them in the league on Saturday and continue that unbeaten run in the Prem.
Credit to Hazard
As much as I hate to say it, credit to Eden Hazard for the goal.
He takes out most of our defenders and then just fires it into the back of the net. I said in my opposition review that he will be the danger man in this game and as soon as he came on he changed the whole dynamic of the Chelsea team and made them 100 times better. He’s worth of the applause he get’s, I wouldn’t say he is the best player in the Premier League but he is definitley challenging at the top.
