Liverpool met expectations as they came away with a 2-0 win over bottom of the league Fulham, whilst the reds massively rode their luck in the first half, the second 45 minutes were more like the usual Liverpool. As the reds go up to 30 points and (briefly for now) top of the table, here are the player ratings:

Alisson – 7

The fella even makes a goalkeeper cap look good, should have done better with a Schurrle shot in the first half but played a massive role in Liverpool breaking away for Salah’s goal.

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 5

It’s just not clicking for the young wing back at the moment, got forward well but was unable to make the most of it. Seems to be trying too hard at the moment and needs to go back to basics but did play a good pass to Salah for the first goal.

Joe Gomez – 6

Mature performance from Gomez once again, little to do in the second half but played a few nice passes into the final third.

Virgil Van Dijk – 6

Again not much to say for Van Dijk, won the majority of his battles against Mitrovic but bizarrely stood off the Serbian which created Sessegnon’s one on one chance.

Andy Robertson – 8

An outstanding second half performance from the Scotsman, flew forward at every opportunity and linked up well with Sadio Mane. An oustanding cross but the ball on a plate for Xherdan Shaqiri to make it 2-0.

Georginio Wijnaldum – 6 (Subbed off for Henderson 69′)

Did well in keeping possession high up the pitch for Liverpool, think alongside Fabinho they didn’t protect the back four enough in the first half.

Fabinho – 7 (Subbed off for Keita 91′)

Did incredibly well with his pressing high up the pitch, as mentioned though the defence was hung out to dry at times as Fulham created chances. Still has a few things he needs to iron out in his game.

Xherdan Shaqiri – 8 (Subbed off for Milner 81′)

Provided the creativity that Liverpool were crying out for against Red Star, his ability to find the space between the opposition lines is second to none and he took his goal exceptionally well.

Mohamed Salah – 8

Liverpool’s biggest attacking threat of the game, the defence couldn’t deal with his quick feet and showed unbelievable pace to race away and score the opening goal.

Roberto Firmino – 7

Dropping too deep still in my opinion, whether it’s instructions from the manager or not I think he affects the game better when he gets on the ball by the box. Had some good moments – linking up with Salah to put him through one on one and putting Mane through on goal.

Sadio Mane – 6

Really quiet today I thought, didn’t get on the ball enough but provided a good link up with Robertson in the second half. Was put through on goal but a really poor touch let him down.

Jordan Henderson – 6

Slotted in for Wijnaldum easily, kept the ball well and played a few good passes. Good to see the captain back.

James Milner – 6

The game was already dead by the time Milner made an appearance, didn’t need to do much.

Naby Keita – N/A

Managed to get on the pitch for 90 seconds, good to see him back to full fitness.
