Article by Lauren Black – @Lauren_Black9 It’s time for the first player ratings of the season and I don’t think it is going to be a difficult one. Alisson – 7 Didn’t have much to do but when called upon he played well. His distribution should just get an 9 itself, he was picking passes out left, right and centre and every time he had the ball at his feet he just looked comfortable. Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7  Looked a little bit shaky at times but put in a good performance, had a great free-kick saved by Fabianski in the first half and was up and down the right hand side trying to get crosses into the box. A couple of more games and he’ll be more comfortable. Joe Gomez – 7  Was just fit enough to make it in the team today but didn’t look out of place. He partnered Van Dijk in the centre of defence and he did well. Will be interesting to see where his preferred position will be this season but with the injury crisis we have at CB right now he has definitley made that spot his own. Virgil Van Dijk – 8  Didn’t put a foot wrong. Was calm in possession and dealt with anything that came his way. Andy Robertson – 8  Definitley the best left-back in the league, similar to Van Dijk as he didn’t put a foot wrong and got into a lot of good position further up the field to help out attack out. Naby Keita – 8.5  Looks like he has been here for years. Every touch and pass he had was boss and he is definitley going to be the best signing of the season for us. James Milner – 9  He was everywhere in this game and has definitley shown Klopp why he should be in the team, a real leader and didn’t put a foot wrong. Georginio Wijnaldum – 9 It was a toss up between him and Milner for my man of the match as they both stood out in the midfield. In a similar position as Milner as he needs to show Klopp why he should be starting games and he definitley did that today. Mo Salah – 8.5 Start as you mean to go on. He hasn’t let last season get to his head and was obviously going to get on the scoresheet today. Got into some great positions and could have had a few more goals. 50 goals this year Mo? Roberto Firmino – 7 Didn’t have too many opportunities to score today but still put in a great shift (as always). Was substituted later on in the game for Henderson but i’m sure he’ll be back to scoring no look goals again soon. Sadio Mane – 9 This is going to be his best season yet in a Liverpool shirt I just know it. Seems right up for every game and could have had a hat-trick today. Can’t wait to see how he performs this year. Subs: Jordan Henderson – 7  For someone who has only featured once in pre-season, he was everywhere when he came on. Obviously he kept himself in prime condition when he was away at the World Cup so probably does not need as much rest as we think but he put in some good work today. Xherdan Shaqiri – 7  Still can’t get over the size of his legs. He has definitley been the bargain of the season at only 13 million and you can see he is going to be a great player for us. Daniel Sturridge- 7 One touch one goal. He doesn’t need any more than that and it was brilliant to see him back scoring goals at Anfield. It’s a big season for him but i’m sure he won’t dissapoint.   Article by Lauren Black – @Lauren_Black9
