Lauren and Amy are back this week to discuss the 3-0 loss to Manchester City women last weekend, what went wrong and have a review of what the season has been like for the Reds so far.
Liverpool vs Man City
First half was a valiant display
Stand out performances from Bradley-Auckland and Leighanne Robe
Second half, own goal by Fahey ‘opened the floodgates’
Parris chip, and penalty…. Was it a penalty?
Bonner, Weir, Parris and Houghton all incredible. Walsh great at putting those through balls in, her injury confirmed as minor knee..won’t be playing for England
Positives to take from the game?
First half we were great defensively, Preuss pulled off some great saves. Coombs and C.Murray picking up the ball deep and feeding through the front 3.
High potential for development in the future, they didn’t keep us in our half, we had several opportunities to break and go for goal
Needed to take more chances in front of goal…didn’t test Roebuck enough
Injuries? Charles came off early and Linnett came on.
Did Liverpool ‘press enough’? Would that have helped contain City more
What could we have done differently?
Parris became the WSL all time top scorer with 37 goals
Arsenal are on Fire
7/7 Wins
34 goals scored, conceded 4
Average goals scored per match: 4.86, takes the mon average 17 minutes to score their first goal
Vivianne Miedema top scorer in the league: 11 goals, also top in the league with 7 assists
Yeovil win their first ever WSL game 1-0 vs Everton
Won their first game since 2016, ending a 41, lost 38 games run of no wins…
Hannah Short provided the goal against Everton
Season so far?
6th place… should we be higher?
Who’s performed the best so far?
Who’s been disappointing?
Any update on where we think we will finish in the league?
