Liverpool’s U18s take on Manchester City at Kirby on Saturday morning at 11:00am in the Premier League Cup.

The Reds will be looking for revenge as they look to put the 5-2 defeat to City in the league behind them when the two sides meet once again. Though since then Liverpool have been in frightening form, they are unbeaten in their last 7 games winning 6 of them while scoring 22 in the process.

Liverpool have started this season U18’s Primer League cup with a hard fought 3-2 win over away at Swansea where Field O’Rourke last minute winner secured all three points for them. The importance of getting a first win in the tournament cannot be overstated; having the reigning holders of the cup in the same group means Liverpool are going to have to most likely finish above them to progress to the quarter finals.

Not just domestically but the U18’s has been impressive in Europe so far this season, as their 2-0 win over Genk on Wednesday made it seven points out of a possible nine to remain on course to reach the knockout stages of the UEFA Youth League.

James Balagizi certainly hit form in the Red’s 3-0 win over Newcastle last time out in the League with a brace and an assist, making him Liverpool’s joint top goal scorer in the league.  As well Liverpool’s forward Layton Stewart has been in fine form this season with two goals and three assists.

Manchester City U18’s recovered from a shock defeat to Blackburn Rovers by winning their last three games convincingly. City’s top goalscorer Cole Palmer has six goals so far this season and will prove a threat for Liverpool’s backline.

Yet Liverpool will be looking to give Man City a reality shock that will fuel momentum for the Red’s charge against the Mancunians in both this competition and the league this season.
