Few players have made as strong a start to life as a Reds as Dominik Szoboszlai in recent years and the Hungarian midfielder has already earned comparisons to Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.
The 22-year-old has been in outstanding form following his move from RB Leipzig, scoring two screamers along the way. That form, combined with his playing style and wearing the number eight have led to the Gerrard-esque conversations.

Emile Heskey was speaking to Redmen TV via BoyleSports, who offer the latest Premier League betting & odds about the midfield ace and those comparisons to a player he played alongside on 218 occasions.
He said: “When you’re wearing that number and scoring some of the goals that he’s scoring, putting in some of the performances then yes (I can see why there’s been comparisons).
“I would still say that Stevie from midfield could control a game more than Szoboszlai. But he’s a young lad and he’s building into a team that expects to win every week. Pressure comes with that and he’s dealt with that pressure so well.
“He’s been phenomenal, that energy that he gives, his passing range, I can understand that comparison. It shows how confident he is in his own ability. To step into that shirt and step out of the shadow, to be yourself. I know we’re comparing but if he carries on that trajectory then we’re not going to be talking about Steven Gerrard, we’re going to be talking about Szoboszlai.”

Redmen Reacts
Spot on. Whilst the comparisons are nigh on inevitable, Szoboszlai has made such a promising start to life as a Red that it doesn’t feel as though it’ll take long before the Gerrard tag is forgotten and we are instead simply waxing lyrical over the new man.
Add some more world-class displays, goals and a few pieces of silverware to the cabinet and it seems certain the Hungary captain will quickly become an Anfield favourite – if he isn’t already.
